Using Sync Center, is it possible to sync files and folders between 2 computers over a network; and if so how do I do it?

I have been able to sync a network folder to offline files on Vista, but the problem I am having is what if the network was down and I created a new file or folder. Can I add that file or folder to the offline files somehow and then have it automatically sync when the network is back up?

I'm not too sure if it would work, it would help if you said what kind of network this was, wireless/wired/etc
