Default New Custom PC not Booting/Posting

Not sure if this is the right place to post this so sorry if it isnt I will be putting 64x vista on my computer though when i can get it to work.

Hey sorry this has to be my first post, definitely not going to be my last here hehe as I plan on overclocking my comp.

Okay first I will state my problem then the parts my comp is running on.

I am pretty sure I have stuff hooked up correctly but I may be wrong, hopefully theres an easier answer to my problem. When I start up my PC after everything is hooked up all my LEDs, on my water block, my fans, and the main power LED all power on but have a constant blink to them and my GPU (8800 Ultra) the fan ticks along with the LEDs blinking but never really starts up (the fans are blowing and the pump is doing its job but I'm pretty sure they are all doing the pulsing but since its not visual like the LEDs I cant really tell). My computer fails to boot at all and just sits there blinking until I hold down the power button until it turns of. I'm thinking about resetting my CMOS but I'm not sure if that will work. Also I'm wondering if its the fact that my board says it supports 1.8v DDR2 ram but my Crucial Ballistix sticks (4x1024megs) are rated at 2.2v 1066mhz. From what I know (a bit) it should auto clock down to DDR2 800 and run fine at 1.8v as all the reviews I have read about the mother board are using 2.2v ram. Other than that I really am out of ideas and I don't want to take it to some "supposedly expert" PC technician just to break/tell me something is broken when its probably not. Basically my comp doesn't Post or Boot.

Also I can upload a video somewhere for stream or post it on filefront if anyone wants to see exactly what it is doing. Just let me know.

Case: ThermalTake Kandalf LCS
Mobo: GA-N680SLI-DQ6
-----http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/...GA-N680SLI-DQ6
Processor: Intel QX6700
GPU: 1x PNY 8800 ultra OC
PSU: Thermaltake Toughpower
Ram: 4x Crucial Ballistix 240-pin DDR2 SDRAM 1066 PC2 8500
-----http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820148069
Optical Drives: 2x LITE-ON 20x DVD+-RW Sata
-----http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82e16827106057
HDD: WD raptor 150gig 10k rpm Sata

Cooling:
Waterblock for the CPU comes with the kandalf case (should be enough i dont plan on OCing right away) radiator has 3x14cm fans for cooling
25cm sidepanel fan
2x 14cm rear fans

Thanks for your help and if someone knew what the blinking/pulsing meant omg i would be elated ... but once again the PC has never booted once so hmm ...

on a side note i have it plugged into a wall socket that runs my other computer fine so :S

Try removing ONE of your ram sticks, then starting your PC up. -- if this fails, just try 1 stick of RAM

Tell me if this worked, if it does, your kinda screwed as its to do with that awful chipset on your mobo.

And just to clarify, this is not a problem with your ram, its all to do with that chipset.

no ive already tried just using 1 stick of ram on the mobo. BTW whats wrong with the 680i all ive heard are great reviews about it, both this board the ASUS striker Extreme and other 680i boards? Hmm i wish there was like a "your peripherals and LEDs are all blinking/twitching in unison heres whats wrong" answer :S bleh oh well :O
I was reading around and I read that this is possibly because one of my connections might be not on properly and the PSU is auto protecting my mobo and the rest from fully powering up to keep from frying it.

Well the i680 has some serious RAM compatibility issues (with practically all brands on the market). i experienced this myself (starting on page two):

http://www.pchelpforum.com/motherboa...as-gone-2.html

when i brought a Striker Extreme and tried to use my current ram in it....and it worked, its just i couldn't use a forth Dimm as it caused the rig to fail at startup, and even if it did manage to do so, the OS was very unstable.

I tried messing around with the BIOS, changing the voltages, etc, and none of it made any difference, in the end i just sold the striker, and will never touch it again, or anything with the 680i chipset.

I wouldn't be surprised if this was just the chipset complaining about your RAM. i'm not familiar with water cooling, so if the problem lied in that somewhere, i couldn't help you. sorry >.< (thats another thing i wouldn't touch - water and leccy dont mix! )

hehe ya i was wonding if it might be ram incompatibilities :S RAWR im on their website and it has a suggest list of ram but since the board is initially made for 1.8v DDR2 not sure if mine would have an issue being 2.2v it should autoclock down tho right ... if i DO go with 1.8v tho i really cant find any SLI ready ram ... weird as it may be but all the SLI stuff seems to be in the 2.1-2.3voltage area. If I were to buy a new board :S what would i get ... i mean this one has some nice features and it is able to run dual 8800ultras with room to spare and even another slot for a PPU if i ever wanted one. And since my Processor is a QE6700 I really dont know another board that it wouldnt bottleneck on ... then again I know i havent looked hard enough either.
