Exclamation [Answered] Windows Vista update problem

still haven't got my other problem fixed about the icon in the Windows Vista Starter and now i have another one, plz someone help me this forum seemed a little inactive...i would really appreciate help.

now my 2nd problem is the windows update, i don't know why but some updates that i downloaded couldn't be installed. Well they can be installed but the installation failed or something, after your windows update have been installed ur computer will notify you, and when i checked some updates failed to install and i try to check for updates again but it says your computer is up to date. What do i do to update the files that failed? Is there a way i can download updates using a program or something because i know for windows xp u can download the whole SP2 patch and update it offline.

also is there a way to uinstall updates that i dont want? I tried going to installed updates but it only shows updates for Microsoft, i wanna remove updates for other hardwares but it doesn't show.

Hello Chaoscreater,

I can only imagine that this problem is just the Windows Update is being buggy. Vista is still a new OS and probably has a gajillion bugs. If when you go to Windows Update now, it shows that you are up-to-date, I'd just leave it at that.

It is pretty hard to tell why you would have those failures. They may have actually installed but it just reported as a failure due to a bug.

As far as I know there are no other ways to get the small updates. Service packs are available through other downloads because they are so large and Microsoft doesn't want them to clog up the Windows Update bandwidth, so they release service packs in several different locations.

I wouldn't worry much about it in my opinion. Otherwise, the only thing I could say is to try to get in touch with Microsoft or check the support website to see if this is a known issue.

Hope that helps.

Welcome to the PCHF chaoscreator.

As far as I understand it, if your computer already has updates that superceed the patch that it is trying to install, you will receive a "failed" error, as the patch failed to install.

Nothing to worry about.

In regards to uninstalling Hardware patches, just download the new drivers from the manufacturer, and install them over the top. This removes the old ones.
