Default [Information] Guest Account

During the installation of Windows Vista, a Guest account is created (see: Control Panel>User Accounts>Manage Account). My Manage Accounts shows the account as "Guest account is off". Belarc indicates the account as having been logged in 41 times. Am I being accessed through a backdoor? I don't see any means of removing the Guest account.

I can understand why a public or corporate computer owner might have a use for such an account, but I don't. At least not directly. Is this something that is used for updates by Microsoft or some such software house? I don't like the idea of the Guest account being accessed without my permission.

Does anyone know a way of either removing the account or locking it down so that future accessors will have to go through me to have access?

Thanks...

Hi Gandalf.
Go to start - control panal. Select user accounts and family, then select Add or remove user account. You will find this under the heading User Accounts.
Click the guest account and select turn off.

As my original posting indicated, ...My Manage Accounts shows the account as "Guest account is off". Belarc indicates the account as having been logged in 41 times...

Apparently, having it turned off isn't good enough. According to Belarc, your computer can still be accessed.
