Default Got quite a big problem.

Yesterday a brought a new pc tower its a packard bell start pc and the pc came with windows vista and intergrated radeon 1150 express card.I got the new pc home and run it on my old monitor and it worked fine, this was the first time i ever used vista and i saw after a while that i would not be able to play games on vista with these specs 1gb ram 3.5 cpu so i thought i would try install a clean version of vista from the packard bell recovery boot menu, everytinhg was going ok and its reinstalled vista but when the com restarted if just frooze for like 30 mins on the vista loading screen,so i turned the pc off and then back on,after i did this it just kept saying error and i must restart to finish the vista install, anyway i was real mad and wanted to play my new com so i got my windows xp cd out and installed it on my new pc,everything was great after the install,my internet waws working and all things seemed fine untill i went to my display settings and saw that the intergrated graphic card was not there, then i went to device manger and there was no display adapters showing atall, when i go to display and click advanced it tells me my chipset is called vga save mode and i cant run any 3D games etc it says no divice found, now im stuck on what to do,i could buy a new card but im not sure if that would work or a new copy of vista maybe or it could be a simple fix., i spent 5 hours on the internet looking for a way to sort it but i had no luck closest i came was maybe its a regesty key missing. if anyone can help i would really appeiate it as i saved for so long for this pc and now i cant use it for games.

Hi antyon, welcome to the PCHF.

Sounds like you haven't installed the video card drivers yet for the radeon 1150.

Can you tell me what model packard bell you have?

Hi antyon,

There's no point in going out and buying a new video card...and if you had your nvidia 5200 in there, which is an AGP card...well if it plugged in, i doubt you have a PCI-e slot in your computer.

Give me some time, and i'll find some more details on your computer in specific, and have some helpful information/advice

As it stands now - pull your power cable out of the back of the computer...push the power button 10 times in a row (quick succession)...plug the power cable back in...and you now should be able to boot off the intergrated video card again...make sure you remove the 5200.

You'll get better performance out of the 1150 at any rate
