Lightbulb What motherboard bundle to go for

Hello i dont know if this is in the right plance for this, but my pc wet all funny and now i need a new motherboard and processor. But i dont know what bundle to go for i need it to run vista and powerfull games.

Her are the options .

Hi robert,

I recomend the Intel bundle...

You'll get more performance then the AMD.

I gotta disagree.

The X2 4600+ Killed intel's extreme edition when it first came out and the 4200 is a plenty powerful cpu.

The prescott CPU's were power hungry and hot.

I'd go with with AMD but I guess it's personal preference.

Had it been the Core2Duo I'd have been different.

Here's a few comparison benchmarks taken from X-Bit labs as you can see the AMD 3600 X2 beats the Pentium D 915 in benchmarks and clearly the 4200 is better.






Remember though, with either you may need new RAM, preferably DDR2

AMD won't need DDR2

Only the Intel...which is why i suggested it - upgradeability

And the performance difference isn't THAT much...infact wouldn't be noticable in games :P

ahh see i dont have a lot of money to get new ram i can only use my old one wicth is

It's an AM2 socket motherboard which only supports DDR2 (It was the older 940 and 939 that supported DDR1) you will need DDR2 with either of those.
