Brand new Dell Inspiron 1501 with Vista (very slow) but the keys "X" "C" "," "." do not work on boot up!

After a while (20 minutes +) they start to work. It's not been on the net, so no viruses etc.

It's going to go back unless any of you guys/gals have similiar experiences which can explain it!

This may seem like a silly question, but have you tried a different keyboard? Do these keys work straight away if you boot up in safe mode (F8 during startup)?

it's a notebook & I don't have appropriate external keyboard. will try safe mode
