Default [Resolved] Epson Drivers

Hi

I have an Epson 830 Photo printer. When I connected the printer via the USB and switch it on Vista automatically detects the printer and installs the drivers. Thats what usually happens, not now it doesn't. Since formatting my pc, when I plug in the printer and turn it on a windows pops up asking if I want to search the pc for the drivers or look in a specific location. I select search the pc for the drivers. After the search the drivers can't be found on my pc, hence I can't use it. Epson don't have drivers for the 830 as they are built into Vista Home Premium. I just don't understand how one minutre it would work fine then when I format my pc it doesn't work. Anyone any ideas how I can resolve this problem?? Any advice is much appreciated.

Thx

Barry

One possibility, your computer may not be able to retrieve the driver from the hard drive.

If your hard drive has bad spots on it, then Vista will have trouble retrieving data from it. Since you said the printer was working, it is possible the new instillation put the drivers in a different location on the hard drive and that location could be damaged.

This is only a theoretical possibility based on the information you provided. One of the staff members may have a better justification for your difficulties.

Good Luck

Microsoft's solution is to run chkdsk. The way to do this is...
Open the Computer icon
Right click on your C: drive
Click on Properties
Click on the Tool tab
Under Error checking click the button marked Check Now...
There two boxes, they should both have check marks in the boxes
Click Start

You will have to reboot for this process to function.

Please advise if this process solves your problem.
There are other possible solutions if this doesn't work.

Good Luck
