Thumbs down No CD/DVD Drivers for install.

Okay, So I'm trying to install the 64bit version of Vista. IT boots up fine, get into the actual point where it says "Install Vista" and it says that my CD/DVD Drivers are not there (even though I just botoed off of it) but It says i can put in another cd or look off the drive to get the drivers.

I've tried using the built in drivers on my computer, the old Windows XP CD and none of them work. Note: I don't have the drivers CD for my disk, and I have gone to their website and they do not offer the CD drivers there, they basically say XP will have the drivers necessary.

My CD/DVD drive is a LiteOn DVDRW SHW 160P6S.

Also tried another DVD drive, different cable setup, no change.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Could you get someone with a Vista box to grab the cdrom drivers (cdrom.inf and cdrom.sys) and then stick them on a USB drive then load the drivers from there.

I believe a lot of people have been having this issue when trying to install in a virtual machine, not sure if there's been much on just a normal install but hopefully that would fix things.

Good suggestion but, tried drivers from two different people with Vista, neither worked...

Also updated firmware for the fun of it.

Hi Alpha,

First I'd like to point out this is a volunteer ran website, which means that we can't answer all posts within 18 hours of your original post. We do endevour to answer posts within 24 hours, but they do slip every now and then.

Second. I know Vista has issues installing from certain CD drives. I'd suggest borrowing one of your friends (the actual unit itself) and plug it into your computer, see if this helps.

I know that, I've never waited over about 5 or 6 hours for a reply before, and it had several "views" with no replies.

But I have done that as well, two other different DVD drives, neither worked.

I have only two more suggestions

1) Integrate the drivers with vLite vLite - Windows Vista configuration tool

2) Call MS support and tell them they suck. (Not literally, or I'm guessing the support won't be too good) XD
