Smile probs viewing video files in vista and more

hi again all,
am dual booting (thankfully) vista ultimate 64 bit and xp mce 2005
have a lot of video's some divx and other types that play happily in xp but in vista they don't have supported codecs. which is a shame.
anyone know if they're gonna release codecs for this?

can use divx player but get a warning from vista saying a programme has forced vista to use basic colour scheme. doh...

thought vista was gonna be THE visual dogs balls...
i don't want to be a moaner but it is unfortunate that i'm experiencing so many probs with video and games that they've implied will so much better.i know this is an early days in the life of vista and have high hopes for the future. but have had to resort to xp for many things now, eg playing stalker, watching downloaded videos, soon to be r6 vegas too. even uploading pics to a hotmail account proved to be impossible. kept on getting a unknown picture format message, downloading converter...but no go.

really glad i'm dual booting and have xp to fall back on which to me now looks a really gr8 os.
am sure all these things'll be ironed out in time however. (wish i wasn't the guinea pig though and glad i bought it as an oem for £150 not £350-400) feel for anyone that paid full price and is having similar probs.
any suggestions welcome.
just tell me to shut up if i sound like a whinger.

The strange thing is...i'm reading all these problems people are having with Vista and video files and all that jazz...i've been running it since the day it came out and never had a single problem with it

Can you please download this program here - Entering MPlayer homepage
It's the program that i use - it doesn't require any sort of video codecs or anything....
So if the videos play in this program, then we just have to find the correct codecs for you.
