Ok, good news people. I solved both of my problems. It wasn't what I wanted to do, but atleast I fixed it. What I had to do was re-install the Vista beta, and through there configure the boot settings. I guess I had to do it that way because even though I had formatted the partition on which the beta was installed, I guess the boot settings [from Vista] were still affecting my system. Well, now I even cut the wait time to 5 secs and made XP my default OS so I can once again just press my PC's power button, go somewhere, come back an viola, my PC is ready. Thanks much GaRHaR.
