hello i am new to this website. Dont know if this is in the right part of the forums for this.
but when i look at my hard drive the pie chart shows 38.8GB used. But i know thats not right because when i seclet all my files in my hard drive it says i only got 15.7GB of files on my hard drive is this right?

Hi Robert, welcome to the PCHF.

This is nothing to worry about. It's not a problem at all, that is the correct file size for all visible files.

You also have a whole lot of hidden files/folders which will total around 15gb also.
These are hidden system files so that they can't be "accidentially" deleted.

thx for the reply

But when i looked to see how much GB were on my hard drive i looked at the hidden files/folders to by useing the folder opitons. is that what you was chating about the hidden files that can see if you change the folder options?

Yep in Folder Options. Show them and then check the size it should be fine

There are also extra hidden files that only command prompt will find - there's not many, but i know a few viruses use this method.

I find that the space i have and what is shown often does not tally .. after running clean disk that issue is resolved as i delete deleted files .. (am i right in my thinking guys?)
