Default HP printer issue

Hi,

I have a new laptop ith Vista installed and all windows updates.

I am trying to install a HP 5552 printer that HP assures me needs no drivers and is litteraly plug and play. Sadly this has not happened and the PC does not prompt with a new hardware found warning.

I have manually installed using the generic vista drivers and now when print is pressed the printer comes to life but the job never prints and the printer dialog displays "out of paper" needless to say lots of paper and no jams!

I have tried deselecting the use "advanced printing" option but to no avail.

Any help greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Tom

Welcome to PCHF

If it were me, I would remove the printer completely then re-install & try a different USB cable and port. Try using another driver, say the deskjet 500c driver to test printing....
