My windows Vista changed the clock fine, but now when the Microsoft screen saver ( bubbles ) activates, the clock does'nt keep advancing the time. I don't believe this was happening before the time change ?

Hi jimr,

Welcome to PCHF.

If you leave your PC off for a while (unplug the PC power from the wall socket), does the same thing happen?

No, clock operates fine under all conditions, Only the screensaver seems to stop it, When you move the mouse & the screensaver goes off then the clock will be right again. This would'nt be seen except if you had a screensaver that you could see thru such as the bubble one, Any other one that would cover up the clock because it would be gone & the clock would be right as quick as you close the screensaver & are looking at the background again? Maybe this is the way Vista behaves as its a pretty small visual effect & now I can't really be sure that this was'nt happening before the time change ?

lol, I think I know what your talking about now.

Before your screensaver starts, a snapshot of your desktop is taken and used to create the effects your see. The snapshot is mearly a background picture, it isn't live. It's the same as pressing the printscreen button on your keyboard and pasting it into a document or paint package. The effects can easily take place on a snap shot, and you really wouldn't want your desktop to be messed up that way for real.
