Default Should I try again?

So I think I figured out why I had such pains last time I tried to upgrade to vista from xp. My DVD drive was almost bust and went bust during the vista upgrade process. I think this is also what caused my computer to hang up during one of the restarts and forced me to do a clean install of xp again. I am really really tempted to try installing it again with a new and much much better dvd drive. My questions are: Was this most likely the problem, and should I try again?

Hi Manok,
Welcome back,
If you are happy to upgrade to Vista, and the drive reads ok, I can't see ay reason why you can't upgrade.
let us know how you get on

should i take out my second hard drive.. or unplug my wireless internet connection? I guess im just worried that I will get to the last phase of the install and on restart my computer will hang up again... could something else have caused this problem, like a hard drive?

Hi Manok,

If your second drive does have your data on it then you should unplug it until the reinstall, as to the wireless you will probably have to set it up again on the reinstall and if memory serves me correctly with vista you definately need it for activation.
