Default [Resolved] install issues w/ vista

So my friends buddy is a VP w/ western digital. He got me a free vista premium and ive tryed to install it the last few days and im having a issue.
Disk goes in, i boot from it, select my hard drive, format it, and proceed through step 1 and then go to step 2. I get to step 2 and it gets to the point that i need to restart. it restarts and goes to a blue screen which changes so fast that i cant even read it, and tells me there was an error, so the next time i start i get the opertating system selection screen (Choose how u want to start windows, safe mode, safe mode w/ networking, etc.) and i chose regular the first time, that didnt work, reinstalled, chose safe mode the next one, said u cant finish installation like this.

HELP ME

ive tryed a few things on my own now, ive disconected the TV tuner hoping it was a driver issue, and disconected my printer for the same reason. the start up recovery says that if i recently connected a portable media device that i should disconect it and restart. obviously i havent, so then it also says that if the problem persists to contact the computer manufacture.... me. any suggestions?
