Hello, im running Windows Vista and have a 5.1 audio system. It all works fine apart from when the audio is being used on windows media player and other applications. The sound only comes out of the 2 main speakers and the bass.

I can run a test on teh speakers and all work fine.

Have you checked with the manufaturer of the soundcard that you are running a fully compliant Vista driver? I had a similar issue with one of my PCs (Dell).

I dont ahve a soundcard at the moment, because my mobo has built in 8.1 high definition sound. Sound comes out of all the speakers when i run tests to check them, but dont work on applications.

Ok, so you have integrated sound. What is the full make and model of your PC?

Its custom built, this is the mobo and cpu:

Well, there aren't any Vista drivers (official) for your board so that may be the problem. You could try the latest release for your soundcard (19th January 2007): http://dlsvr02.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/...B_W32_6100.zip
