Cool Vista Issues

Heya guys,

I've just spent the last 12 hours installing Vista...by installing vista i mean, i had it installed in 30 minutes, and the other 11 and a half hours were trying to resolve issues i was having.

Now, this is exactly why I installed Vista so soon. So I could come accross any issues and figure them out before anyone else ran into them.

First of all...the install was fantasticly quick...it seriously was 30 minutes, if not less.

I only had 2 issues that kept me working hard at the problem for so long...these were...

SiI 3114 Raid controller and Error Code: 8000306 with Windows Messenger.
Googling was only giving me answeres to the beta - and not alot of help there (i'm running the final copy btw).

To fix the SiI 3114 issue, i had to manually download the drivers from here Silicon Image - Support | Search Results&

This fixed it up straight away.

To fix the Error Code: 8000306...well that was alot more difficult - because anyone who was using MSN Live could have received this - some said it was due to IE7, others said that it was due to NIC drivers...others said it was to do with the MS Server...

Eventually, I pinned it down...the majority of this issue, was occuring off Netgear based routers (of which i have one)...located the latest firmware...and bang...problem solved.

Just thought I'd let you all know and if there's any questions about anything - ask away hahahahaha...it's purdy...

If you go into the Device Manager, right click on your mis-behaving item, and choose Update Driver, it will download the latest driver. Very nice.

Yea, XP did this as well - it wouldn't find the raid drivers

Trust me, on that one.
