Default openGL support

It's fairly well know that there is no current ATI video driver that provides openGL support in Vista. Does anyone have any way to play games that run in openGL (d3 engine, quake3 engine, etc)? A wrapper perhaps? I heard that you can use a wrapper that masks openGL over D3D. I searched and couldn't find anything...not that I knew what I was looking for anyway. I am running the RTM version of Vista. (Build 6000.) Thanks in advance for the help.

Hi gilson

Welcome back to PCHF

I'm sure a few of the tech guys run Vista so they may be able to help you very shortly.

Sorry for the late response gils0n.

There used to be such thing as a 'glide wrapper' which was quickly shut down...legal issues.

You can try these drivers here - The Guru of 3D Download Section

They are 'modified' and for beta2, but they should still work.

FYI - doome 3 and quake3 use the same engine...as does Prey and Quake4...Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast and a few others that escape me right now.

Not sure about compatability with Vista but i used too use DGvoodoo to fool my pc into thinking it had a voodoo2 3dfx card for Red Baron 3-D.

Its actually very good application an pretty easy too use fortunatly for RBer's most the hard work been done on the setup side. i never tried using them for other apps.
Degee works great for Nvidia cards not so for Ati i think they used too use another wrapper but i can find out.
Try the following links Povolski has loads of rescources an links for both Dgvoodoo an opengl drivers but it might be too early in Vista's lifespan for such video card foolery. Hope it helps an i hope i not sent you down a blind ally.
