Default Installed Epson CD+now wont boot up?HELP!

Hi, my gf just installed a new Epson printer using the cd that came with it and when it completed and she rebooted her laptop, as requested, she gets a message along the lines of 'Computer may not be booted. This may be due to a recent hardware of software. Please insert Windows recover disk'.
i tried the first of the 2 recovery disks that my gf made when the laptop came (the instructions were to do this as it didn't come with a recovery disk)and the screen i got was blank apart from the message: This Pc is not supported by the system recovery disks. You will not be able to continue with these disks'. Just so you know, when we do reboot the laptop, one of the messages reads:
File: /Boot/BCD
Status: 0x000000f
Info: an error occured while attempting to read the boot configuration data.

Is there no way to get into safe mode so i can uninstall the epson software please?

You have received some good replies at that forum especially from Fruit Bat, why don't you wait and see what they have to say.

People that try to help feel somewhat put out when the original poster takes their issue elsewhere without waiting for a reply in the forum that they originally posted in.

It seems to me that you have the wrong recovery disks.

hello buel
welcome to pchf
start the computer and once the first bios screen has changed to the next screen press f8 repeatedly you will then be given various options on how to start the computer ,the 1st option is safe mode select with the arrow keys to highlight the safe mode and press enter

Hi and thank you so much!
I really didn't want to upset anyone and i didn't realise that my dual posting would potentially annoy someone, let alone the wonderful Fruit bat. Many apologies for that, i just panicked a little being as my gf has all her university work on her laptop and is currently studying for an exam!
To Fixit, thank you for that, i've tried the F8 route and unfortunately it just keeps going to Windows boot manager with the only option available of 'Insert your windows instillation disk' etc!
Just out of interest, is it possible to take the hard drive out, plug it in to another laptop using the appropriate leads/cables and go into it and delete the epson files?

hello buel

if the system wont let you safe mode boot then unfortunatly you need the recovery discs,
your query about taking the hdd out of one laptop and putting it into another im afraid is not possible as there would definitely have hardware parameter issues , i.e. one harddrive "knows"what it is supposed to have installed and what hardware it is running ,if you put it into another laptop it would be very confused as it wouldnt find what it has been set up to find and control, is the system still under warranty ?
if not you could take it out get suitable cable adapters and put it into a desktop system as a slave drive and access all the data (gf's course work) and back it up from there.
your first issue though would be to contact the makers of her system and ask for the recovery disc's (at a cost probably of course)

Hi and thank you for that! Im not very good at explaining myself (terrible, actually), yes that is what i meant- use some USB to IDE and/or SATA cables that i have to access the laptop hard drive to recover the Word documents. Thank you for clarifying that! Just a question- if im able to access the hard drive using the cables mentioned, am i not able to delete the Epson files that were installed when my gf used the Epson disk that caused the problems in the first place?

although you could access the hdd , to fully remove the printer drivers and software would be very difficult as the files needed get installed in various locations within windows which would be very difficult to trace as you would have to find ALL of them to be sure of full removal.

what operating system is on the affected laptop? vista/xp/7 ?
if you could get one of these discs (retail version) from a friend or relative you could use the repair function of the cd/dvd to repair the system

what is the make and model of the laptop ? usually a sticker underneath it
