Thumbs up Vista 64bit boot problem

Hi everyone,

The other night it was working fine, shut it down for bed, woke up and now When I try to start the computer it it asks me if I want to start the computer in a safe mode where it does a "startup repair" or if I want to start it normally. I tried both options with no success. When the startup repair is done it tells me "startup repair cannot repair this computer automatically", then asks me if I was to send information about this problem(recommended) or Don't send. I can click a drop down menu with the problem details, which doesn't tell me much.

When I started it a few seconds ago it automatically started doing a "Windows Memory Diagnostic" where it checks for memory problems, I ran this once already and it came up with nothing. Any info?

Thanks,
pure

Did this just happen out of the blue or have you been seeing any error messages which may have lead to this?

Bump, I know someone knows how to fix this...

I tried calling Acer, but they were unfortunately able to help. They had me try booting into safe mode and that was it.

Alright I will try to describe it the best way I can from the beginning, caution this will be very lengthy...
  • I press the in button
  • Immediately the "Windows Error Recovery" windows opens, stating
Windows Error Recovery

windows failed to start. A recent Hardware or Software change might be the cause.

If Windows files have been damaged or configured incorrectly, Startup Repair can help diagnose and fix the problem. If power was interrupted during startup, choose start Windows Normally.
(Use the arrow keys to highlight your choice.)

Launch Startup Repair(recommended)
Start Windows Normally

Description: Start Windows with its regular setting.
  • If I try the first option I redirects me to another screen, if I choose option two then it brings me back the same screen.
  • The following is what the computer does after choosing the first option.
  1. Microsoft Corporation loading screen appears.
  2. Followed by the Startup Repair page. Which states...
Startup Repair

Startup Repair is checking your system for problems...

If problems are found, Startup Repair will fix them automatically. Your computer might restart several times during this process.

No changes will be made to your personal files or information. This might take several minutes.

(Wordless scrolling bar)

  • Then a Microsoft Windows message appears, stating...

I'm not sure why in my previous post the gaps changed, the post should have been a little more compact and shouldn't of had large spacing between the statements.
