You should have a Dell restore disk you simply put the disk in the cd set in the bios for the system to boot from cd first and that should be all you need. It will boot from the cd and ask simple questions and restore the pc to the day you first got it.

It may called recovery cd or windows cd

Thank-you for your reply, iv been looking for that very disk and iv found some but i'm not sure what is what so i will tell you what they are called and maybe you can point me in the right direction? lol,

Drivers And Ultilities - DVD for Reinstalling Dell dimension and Dell XPS computer software
contents
- Device drivers
- Diagnostics and utilities

& i have another one called

APPLICATION - For reinstalling cyberlink, powerDVD, 7.0 software

they are the only ones i can find, the rest are lost because i moved,

is there any other way of doing this?

The simple way is to try and boot from the and see what happens Dell sometimes dont make it clear what disc is what but if it boots and offers to reinstall windows that the right one.
It will wipe the HD so make sure you have saved any files you need first.

If none of them boot then you are missing a disk
