Windows Vista & 7 - windows 7 error 39 stopping driver update posted in the Operating Systems forums; hi guys,at the weekend i formatted my xp with a windows 7 disk,everything went through fantastic,my 3 dvd burners were working great,then 2 days after i could not see them ...

hi guys,at the weekend i formatted my xp with a windows 7 disk,everything went through fantastic,my 3 dvd burners were working great,then 2 days after i could not see them on the screen,i went into device manager & beside them were yellow triangles,i clicked on each to update drivers & got error 39 message & drivers couldn`t be updated. the 3 burner in question were working fine when the system was xp,i`m wondering if i have done the wrong thing changing it, also my rom draws open,when i put a disk of any sort in,nothing happens,can anyone please help me,i have searched the web till i have a headache,thank you

Do you have any burning software installed? A lot of times when you get that you can uninstall burning software and reboot and it will come back. Once they come back you can reinstall the burning software again. Also, since you said you did a lot of searching, did you try removing the upper and lower filters? xeno1,thanks for getting back to me,no i have never needed to install software for the burners,xp just installed them anyway,i forgot to say they are LH-20A1P liteon,i will try your link idea,i can`t seem to find any drivers on the net for windows 7 ??????????

CD/DVD roms don't generally have drivers, at least not ones that you can download off of the net anyway. They do usually have firmware updates though which I just did a check and yours does. You can download it here. - LITE-ON IT Corporation America - Download

you are a gem,i have printed out the pages from the link you gave me & it said to go to RUN on the start menu,well with this windows 7 ,there is no RUN option (it is the home premium version) i will take a look at the liteon page,i shall return ok,thank you...

In win 7 you just have to type in regedit in the search bar at the bottom of the start menu.

Edit: If you want the RUN option to be there, just right click on the start menu somewhere, click properties and then click the customize button and it let's you choose what links you want in the right hand pane in the start menu.

i downloaded the firmware,but it said it was the wrong one,sorry to be a pain,but can you tell me how to at least access 1 of my burners as i have had enough of these problems,to reformat back to xp,they didn`t play up then,maybe my headache will stop then thank you.....
