Solved: Help on installing XP on compaq presario - Page 2

tried to press f10 but it doesnt show the bios. that's the reason y our IT cannot install XP on my laptop. pls adv.

i already did this. but still bios do not appear. accdg to our IT it needs to be upgraded but we dont have drive or software or s/thing to do this. pls adv

I did manage to find what I think is the manual for your model on how to enter the setup utility which should get you into the bios.

Setup Utility - Windows Vista That's a direct link by the way.

Go to the Starting the Setup Utility section.

Personally I wouldn't downgrade to XP however. A lot of reasons for not doing it such as end of life cycle for XP and no support from hp/compaq if you do.

Oh yes. I might add that you should make your recovery disks before you do anything else in case you are not happy with the end results of your endeavor.

For newer Compaqs, like the ~~Prolinea, Deskpro XL,~~ or Presario, while the cursor is at the top right corner of the screen during bootup, press the F10 key.

Try that...
