Is it legal for me to sell a PC with Windows 7 RC installed? I would obviously send the buyer the OS on a DVD and the License/Product Key.

I looked on the MS Website but couldn't find any info on this. It would be helpful if some of you more experienced members could let me know.

I have a Mini ITX PC with no DVD drive so I would like to install Windows 7 in order to give the buyer some functionality. Otherwise I'll have to buy a slim DVD drive which I don't really want to do.

But is it legal for me to do that? I think it would be since its as though I've just installed the OS for the buyer and its a free OS at the current time anyway.

I'd take the view that should be no problem, however next March or June doen't the installation expire & your purchaser would need to buy an unexpired version?

Yeah I am aware of that. But that would be something for the buyer to deal with.

So they can either use Windows 7 until March or June (think its March when they start powering off every two hours isn't it?) or install another OS themselves either with an external or internal CD/DVD drive.

I just think that having an OS would be a more attractive prospect than a machine with no OS especially if that machine has no internal DVD drive which makes installing an OS difficult.
