Well I was going to say try downloading and installing this:

Its the 2.5MB exe file about half way down the page.

But if exe files aren't working then maybe it won't work. But maybe it will if other MS exe's (Windows Media Player) are working.

Also try clicking Start > Run and type in sfc /scannow

Click OK and insert an XP CD when prompted, if you have one.

Edit: There are viruses that infect / modify .exe files. I have personally seen 100's of .exe files get infected and be rendered useless.

The only solution is to download the .exe files again

I just downloaded it, but it wont run, it says that there aren't any room?

Please make sure that you have sufficient free space on your hard disk. That might be the issue with the EXE's not running. Everything needs a bit of space to "stretch out" in order to run properly.

The easiest way to check the disk space is to click on the My Computer icon, find the Local Disk (typically C) and report back with the Total Size and Free Space amounts.

Total Size: 142 GB
Free Space amounts: 98 GB

Good gosh - you've got plenty of free space. Any chance you might provide a screen shot of the error message?
