Default Help! Can't watch vi deos nor see pictures!

hi there:

Hi have a hp pavilion dv7 with a nvidea 9600gt, and ofecourse the windows vista.

well from a minute to another it just stoped running video. i've try differente programs and the only one that seems to work is the windows media center.

I see no video but hear the sound and i can search it to!

and the photos also stop working, they don't run on the viewer but i can see it's thumbnails!! they do open on the microsoft office picture manager and on the windows media center, but they don't run on the windows phot gallery like they should.

can anyone help me?

i've already re-installed all the codecs, the nvidea drivers and wmp 11 with no results.

Welcome to the Forum Smaug!

Great name, btw

Did this issue come about suddenly, say after a recent update?

Have the Windows updates installed correctly?

I'll mark this one open to encourage all to come and take a look.

Thanks for your patience

well i found out the source of the problem.

In videolan tab one can choose the video mode, the movies only work on the DirectX mode, in the Direct 3d or OpenGL they don't.

Hey Smaug!

That's great information! Thanks so much for taking the time to post back and let all of the other users know. There are so many little things like that in all of the programs, it is really helpful when other folks are searching and are having the same problem.

Hope to see you around the forum,
