Default Removing Windows 7 beta

Hi everyone,
I downloaded the windows 7 beta version a few months ago (stupidly). Because my laptop is quite old and not great, it is quite slow. I discovered the other day windows xp (which is the operating system my laptop came with) is still on the 'C' drive. Windows 7 is in the windows folder and i think all of the xp stuff is in the windows.old folder.

Is there any way I can get rid of windows 7 and get xp back on my laptop as the only operating system?

I have activiated the windows 7 beta on my laptop though so will it be possible to get rid of it? So basically i just want to know whether i can downgrade back to xp? will the xp on my 'c' drive still be usable?

I have tried just running the setup in the xp folder but it doesn't allow it!!

Please help

Thanks

Jon

Hello and welcome to PCHelpForum.

Do you have the XP install disk or can you borrow one from a friend or family member?

Well I am not sure if this will work with XP to rid you of Windows 7 the bug in itself.

I had friends with issues with Windows 7 and could not reinstall Vista.

What I got them to do was to try a repair with the Vista install disk but most of my friends still had issues with Vista after the the repair so a reinstall had to be done.

I can sugest you try a repair with the XP disk it may work.

How much RAM/Memory does it have and what speed CPU?

A bit more RAM/Memory may help.

No, the CD has nothing to do with the serial/computer, just take the CD and you can pop it in to the laptop, just make sure to copy the serial correctly from the laptop's sticker.

You'll have to delete the partition that Windows 7 resides on, thus losing all data on the C drive. So may want to backup everything beforehand.
