Default Second monitor goes dark after 2-5 seconds!

I posted this in the Monitor forums but after taking a second look i realized that no one has looked in that forum for over 3 days so i decided to repost it here. Who knows maybe its a vista issue. Anyways here it is...

Ok before I tell you the problem let me give you some history. I started out with one monitor. I baught a second that was the same size but different brand. I set the new monitor up next to my old one and turned my computer on. The new monitor would turn on for like 2-3 seconds then go what would appear to be black but if you strained your eyes enough you could see that its still on. I fiddled with my computer for awhile and eventuly the monitor turned on and stayed on. I dont know how i did it but it worked.

Well now I baught anouther new monitor (identical to my current one). I unpluged my old old one and plugged in the new one. Now this monitor is doing the same thing. Ill turn it on and itll stay on for 2-3 seconds then go very dark. The only problem this time is Ive been fiddling for a couple days now and it still wont stay on.

If anyone can help me figure this out itll be great. I just want my dual monitors back

Hello Matt and welcome to PCHelpForum.

I did read your origonal thread as soon as you posted it.

But we are all busy tonight,I do not think any of us have stopped working for the past few hours.

Now firstly update your graphics card drivers from the makers website support tab.

Try and then configure the monitor via the monitor settings.

Also use windows settings via right click on your desktop and choose personalize.

Now if your card is NVIDIA when you download a new driver you will also install NVIDIA control panel.Use NVIDIA control panel to also configure your card.

If it is an ATI Radeon card download the drivers and seprate ATI Catalyst so you can configure your card and the monitors.

Also install the drivers for the monitors as well as your graphics card.

Please also fully update Vista with all its latest updates and security fixes.

Now I have marked your thread as "Open" to receive further help from the guys and girls.

But we are rather busy so please be a little patient.

JB.

Matt one thing to try also is swop the monitors around try them in a diffrent port or a diffrent cable,

Possibly also try windows power settings and set to never for any monitor settings such as sleep.

Thanks for all the advice but sadly theres still no success. Here is what Ive done:

1)Updated nvidia drivers and restarted my computer as prompted
2)Fiddled with the Personalize> Display settings
3)Messed with the Nvidia Control Panel
4)Swapped the ports the monitors were in
5) Check to see if there was such a thing as a driver for a monitor and came back with results saying that most monitors share a universal driver that computers come with usualy
6)Checked the power thing
7)Cried
8)Wrote this post

Side Note: When I swapped the monitors the one that keeps turning off became my main monitor and it worked during boot up but once I hit the login screen and that little windows logo appeared thats when it started.

Side note 2: I also tried messing with the monitor settings but I couldent keep the monitor on long enough to do anything.
