Question Using A bios Flash Utility from MSI but it freezes on Vista

Okay so I download the MSI live update utilities from this page

MSI -- MICRO-STAR INT'L CO., LTD.

I had it working for a while but it would only show a clickable link for display driver and Bios updates and I dont even have an MSI technoligies VGA card.

Every time I start the program I get service has not been started and another error

Flash_MMIO_MAP DeviceIO controll error

and a

DruCheck.dll failed

Now the program keeps freezing and I can't get as far as I used too.

My system specs are Windows Vista Home Premium (OEM VERSION)
AMD Phenom 9600 Quad-core Processor CPU Freq 2300MHZ AM2 chipset
Bios A7376AMS Ver 1.2
Motherboard is K9A2 Platinum from MSI

I never had this much problems with a flash utility Asus usually works just fine but this one is like pulling teeth. I have enable My active X Controls like stated and disabled My antivirus and firewall programs.

Just so you know. I know I should not flash the Bios unless I absolutley Positivly have too. But I just bought a new processor that will only work with Bios version 1.4

I don't have a floppy Drive so nix that way out right now.

I have a flash drive with all the Bios utilities nable but am unable to boot off the usb drive.

I have tried to upload to a cd but am having trouble on Vista with ISO's and insisting it be put on A drive. So count those options out. What I need to know is how to get the Live service working. What am I doing wrong and what techniques do I need to try to attempt to it it working.

Just so you know it's like my Bios version won't load into the program so it knows what to do.

Hello Locsphere,

Did you try to reset your restore point back before you installed the program? I believe you should be able to uninstall Live Update then before you reinstall read the direction from MSI at this link.

MSI -- MICRO-STAR INT'L CO., LTD.

Good Luck

Some Flash-drives can be made bootable-- BUT it also depends on the BIOS-- some of them don't allow such settings:

Illustrated walk-through: Creating a bootable USB flash drive for Windows XP

PS-- this is why I ALWAYS add a floppy drive to any PC I own--they are primitive-tech... but sometimes that is a good thing
