Default Internet Explorer cannot find the active desktop html file

Hi,

Im having a really frustrating problem. I work in a school and have small mandatory profiles set up for each class. I want to set a desktop background for each class showing a picture I have created with the class name displayed on it. I have done this through the group policy on server 2003 "active desktop/active desktop wallpaper" and set it to the desktop background jpeg image I want to use.

When logging on as a class many of the computers log on correctly loading the desktop background but some through up the following error message:

Internet Explorer cannot find the active desktop html file. This file is needed for the active desktop. (please see the file attached).

Its really bugging me and it just seems to be completely random on different machines and I tend to have to delete the local cache copy of the profile it makes to prevent it happening again...but even this doesnt always work.

Please help
Many Thanks
Phil

Default Re: Internet Explorer cannot find the active desktop html file

Hi I tried this and it made no difference....Then I removed the local cache copy of the profile run gpupdate restarted and it finally logged on with the active desktop background. However later on after several times logging off then back on again it happens again. There are about 100 computers/laptops on this domain and it appears completely random about which will throw up this error!!

Any other ideas?? By the way all machines are on windows XP pro sp2 internet explorer 6 on a domain server running windows 2003.

Thanks
