there is no hardware or software support, they just brought everything new and expect me to handle it as I am the general office girl as they are too cheap to pay a professional
That's not very nice of them... to say the least.
To be thrown into that with no experience or training-- is just ridiculous.
( you don't work at a Post Office do you ?? --sounds like a similar mindset )

Hi guys.

First of all, I highly doubt they'll sack you for something that wasn't your fault And if they do, as you've had no training...you could probably file a lawsuit for unfair dismissal (I'm not a lawyer though, so i don't know for sure)

But are the drives "glowing red" or are the lights? That's where i'm confused

Also, if there are 3 hard drives, if they are all identical, then they will be in RAID5...unless the guys who your company bought this server was were completely unknowing and "newbish" as the term goes.

To be honest, I think at least 2 thirds of your data is lost, and you company is going to have to replace the other 2 hard drives.

This is definately not your fault, as 2 failing at the same time? That's almost unheard of.

As long as they're the same Speed (10k) and same size or bigger...they don't need to be the same brand

Infact, if you go below most IBM / HP server hard drives, you will find a combination of Fujitsu, Hitachi, Seagate and Western Digital drives...and more too...kind of crazy really Just shows they're all the same these days.

I was just thinking-- that perhaps there was a "known issue" with those drives--as you said very strange for 2 to go at the same time.

First suggestion: Get a job with a company that is not computer illiterate (that's being polite).

Suggestion two: The backup data, how was it backed up? You said 2 of 3 drive were damaged. Was the backed up data on the undamaged drive? It might be worth considering recovering that data. If the orange glow did come from metal heat (you said you needed to let the equipment cool down), then the disk platters are probably heat warped.

Suggestion three: The old equipment, can you recover any data from that source?

Lesson learned: Never delete a backup, until you have a backup to take its place.

For data recovery services you can consult Stellar Information. They are capable of recovering data from virtually any kind of data loss situation, from logical media crashes Or Accidental re-partitioning to physical media crashes caused due to mal-function of Read/Write Head assemblies and PCB/Logic Board failures.
Stellar has evolved a strict documented process as per ISO 9001:2000 norms to ensure confidentiality, consistency & transparency each time every time.
So I think there is no issue sending your hard drive to them as your data would be kept confident.
For more information visit: Stellar - Hard Disk Data Recovery Services
