Default [Resolved] Win 2000 Service Pack 4 -- Problems!!!

Hello! Newbie here! Does anybody know why I would be having such problems installing Win Service Pack 4? I've tried and tried and it gets hung up at a certain point (when the bar just sits there).

I need SP4 to download the software for my new digital camera - that's how I found out I needed it - plus I think it would help my OS run smoother.

I don't know why I can't install it -- any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you -

sam

Hi Upgrader! Thanks for replying So happy to be here.

How would I tell if it's a corrupted download?

I've tried numerous times, and download goes fine. Wizard goes fine....UNTIL it starts going through the process of analyzing my system for...whatever...and then it hangs up about halfway through on the bar and never budges again.

Would it help to order it on disk and try it that way? I think it's only $12. Although I hate to throw money away if it's not going to install at all. But I really need it - I won't be able to use my brand new digital camera if I can't get this thing installed. Well, I can use the camera, but I can't put any of the pictures on my computer. Bummer!

Thanks,
sam

Hey guys

The only reason why SP4 would get stuck is due to an error somewhere on your computer.

Goto Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Event Viewer

Check System and Application logs to see if there's any error messages pertaining to the SP4 install

Default Win2000 Service Pack 4

Hi. I checked the system and application logs on the event viewer, but I don't know what I'm looking for. I see a couple error messages with regard to Service Pack 2, which is what I already have, but none for SP 4.

Thanks!

sam

Ok, try Start -> Run -> sfc /scannow
Make sure your windows cd is handy.
