Okay...sorry guys... now that I've got our public IP address, our server and networks back up, and the public IP pointing to our server (via dsl router) I'd like to be able to create an FTP connection from home to my server using that address. According to my ISP there is no need for port forwarding...

I've never done this, anyone out there have some advice?

but! I remember on your previous thread you said you were using PC Anywhere? PC Anywhere also has a feature where you move from remote desktop to file transfer, and it saves a lot of hassle setting up an FTP Server.

Right-on! Very cool. I am having trouble establishing a connection to the public IP with PC Anywhere... I think it might have something to do with the dsl router's interior's... the Public IP points to our server. You think I have to setup a "gateway" or something in PC Anywhere? Anywho... I wanted to see if the FTP was easier then trying to troubleshoot the PC Anywhere connection issue...

Are you sure you don't need to port forward?

Try a tracert or ping on the IP Address of your server from your home PC. From the command prompt, type ping [IP Address] , to see if you can see the server over the net.

According to tech I don't, but we'll see... I'll give that a shot....

So, now I'm pinging the public address and it's replying/being forwarded correctly to my servers address...

I can connect using my PC Anywhere software, and after setting up the FTP I can now FTP my server from inside my office...

but I am unable connect from the outside (all firewalls disabled)...

???

Hey MADMONKEY, turned out the DSL provider had his IP Forwarding messed up... I setup the FTP using the tutorial you gave me... everything works!!! Thanks to you guys and the little tech help I got from my ISP I look really good!
