Default [Fixed] - smtp errors etc

hi just setting up an alternative web site for our business and will need to use this for our emails - the trouble is that emails utilising this name just get bounced back or lost in the ether! i have tried many things including talking to bt (our isp)- who say that they have forwarded all received mail from the new site to our server.

The mx record set up on our hosts points to our bt records and the office server is prepared to receive but they seem to have had an argument and are not talking.

The old web site will soon disapear due top the old hosting service not talking to us so we cant try them and the new hosts are a little out of there depth with micrsoft server 2003 as am i any help would be gratfully received thanks.

Hi Doublescotch, (by the way, you might want to pour one, this looks like it may give you a few grey hairs, LOL)

Welcome to PCHF. We have a wonderful team of techs here, and I am sure that they can help you troubleshoot this very frustrating situation.

This is definitely not my area of expertise, but I think I may have some questions that will help the gurus to help you.

First of all, what is the email base that you are trying to use?

Does the isp provider show that they are actually recieving these emails, or are they just "set up to forward them"?

Can you direct us to your old website, perhaps one of us can get help from one of their techs.

Does your server receive emails from other email addresses, in other words have you tried setting up a different account name pathway?

I will PM the Server Gurus, please have as much information available as possible, and keep an eye out for their posts. Most importantly, DON'T PANIC! It's going to be OK!

Looking forward to your reply,

TTFN

LGW

Hi we are using outlook m/soft business server 2003, the isp is btclick and i do not know if they are receiving them but their "techie" said that he would setup a receive and forward within their system for the new emails therby retaining the old ones for as long as possible. we are still receiving emails from the old system without problems. the old website is www.worrell-fry.co.uk and as i have said they are as obnoxious and unhelpful as can be i would rather you didnt contact them as although we owe them a payment they owe us a lot of service! nothing forthcoming! the new website is www.worrellfry.co.uk ps ive already got the grey hairs!

Sorry to hear about your grey hairs DS, LOL.

Of course we would never contact your old service without your permission. We've had experience with unhelpful service providers.

Just out of curiosity, is there a reason that you are changing the domain part of the email addys? Have you tried it with the old one on the new server?

I know that this has been forwarded to the big server guru here at PCHF. I am hoping that you will be hearing from him directly. If you don't within the next day. Please post back to remind me to upgrade this thread.

In the mean time, if you could try to set up an account with the old domain, it could prove useful in troubleshooting.

Looking forward to your reply,

TTFN

Hey there DS

Could you confirm whether you are using an exchange server within your office?

If you are then you should be able to setup forwarding on your actual server, obviously this will only last as long as the worrell-fry.co.uk domain is still active.

Are you receiving emails from the new addresses yet?
If you want you can send me a PM with your actual email address and I can try sending you a test mail.

Any updates would be helpful
