Hi Guys,
I am running Windows 2000 Pro with SP4. I have a problem with my web browser, it keeps redirecting me to a different page that i did not request for. The page i get is for : search results, page not found after being redirected. For example: I open open up my yahoo mail box, when i click on message to open up, it will start and give the search results page and i cannot open any other web page from there. i have tried some updates but to no avail.

Hya Predator , sounds like youre pc is infected with something. If you follow the instructions in the "Prework" link below , and post the 2 resulting log files , then we'll see if we can clean that up.

Default thanks Joe5

After struggling, this is what i did,

I downloaded as per instructed on a different PC and then copied all ie ccleaner and spy sweeper to my computer for intallation. I scanned all the files and the culprit was "hotcanada" classified under trojan horse. This is actully a premium rate phone dialer that may hijack your modem and dial toll numbers that are paid, and pornographic websites. In short, my Internet Explorer was hijacked. My system is now up and running.

chow!

Great to hear youre pc is working again. But it is probebly still a good idea to post the logs anyway since there probebly will be more malware on there.
