Hi,

There is one interesting application for networks and severs - IPMonitor.
It is a network monitoring solution that allows to monitor any networked device on the Internet, corporate intranet, or TCP/IP LAN and receive alerts immediately via audible alarm, message, e-mail, or third-party software when a connection fails.
I am using IPMonitor thingy, to keep track of the availability of servers at my ISP. I like it very much, and this way I can always know when they are down.

sounds good for server monitoring i.e. if they are down or up on a small to big network or for web farm server that are in remote location just depends what you want to use it for.

Nevertheless, I've downloaded the mentioned soft - Although I don't know a ton about TCP/IP and networking in general, I find it really fun to mess around with.
