Default [Resolved] Printer Problems

I'm sorry could not find a printer section,I have printer set up on WS 2003 and everyone is printing okay accept this one person keeps trying to print from their usb pen,its just a normal word file and it prints as garbage, just random pictures and signs,i'm not sure what the problem is?maybe they are using a different type of word (2007) and thats why,i'm not sure.I noticed the file was archived so i copied it to their drive instead of the usb pen drive, still had the same problem, any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hello Alameals, Welcome to PCHF.

If you try to print other documents from the same machine with the problem, does the printer still print garbage?

Also, if you try the same document on other machines that normally print fine, what happens?

It sounds to me like an incorrect printer driver is installed on this PC.

thanks for the welcome
well I tried the file on another computer and it still printed out as 'garbage'. So i'm guessing it is the file. Just don't know why it is doing this, maybe the printers drivers need updating but the printer is pretty new, like really new.

What printer is it Alameals? Does the document show up OK in print preview?

hey just got to the bottom of it,seems the person trying to print the file was made in office 2007 and the drivers wasn't updated so when i opened the file in 2003 saved it agen in a different name it printed okay,i'm guessing my printer drivers need updating to be able to code office 2007 documents. does this sound correct?

Absolutely. Office 2003 can't read Office 2007 documents. There are two things you can do:

a) Upgrade to Office 2007.

b) On the PC with Office 2007, open the document, go to File, followed by Save As. Under "Save as type", select an earlier version of word, 97, 2000 or 2003. Then you'll be able to open that document from the PC running 2003.
