Thumbs down "failed to create the COM module!" error with windows server 2003

yesterday i had decided to re do the GPO's on my domain so i did a restore of the originals using gpofix command. i did i reset to make sure the settings were saved and installed an update while in the process. the update was windows malicious software remover tool. i noticed that it took an incredibly long time to load back up, even though it was server 03. it had told me that windows failed to load at least one driver. since then i have noticed that network connection service, com+ event system, remote server manager, shell hardware detection does not start. i also noticed that the network connections folder is empty. i went and checked my error logs and came up with a whole bunch or errors which all started with:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: ccSetMgr
Event Category: None
Event ID: 48
Date: 5/10/2006
Time: 9:12:46 AM
User: NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM
Computer: server01
Description:
Failed to create the COM Module!

i researched this service and discovered that its owned by norton antivirus which i do run. im not sure what this has to do with everything else not working. im stumped, can anyone help me out?

Default Norton

Hi Nolan_16,

Welcome to The PCHF,
I have had a look around, and the ccSetMgr file you mention is a part of the Norton AV that start launches on startup. Try reinstalling/repairing NAV to see if this helps.
Let us know how you get on
