I have several servers running with virtual server 2005.

I've recently upgraded virtual server 2005 to windows 2005 R2.
1 Server runs on a pentium 4 (With HT)
1 Server runs on a dual Xeon (With HT)
1 Server runs on a dual Opteron (both Dual Core processors)
All guest operation systems are windows XP, Windows 200 server or Windows 2003.

After upgrading the Virtual server software, I could also upgrade the virtual machine additions to a newer version.
I've gained performance on both intel based servers after installing the latest Virtual Machine Additions.
On the AMD server, the guest operation systems rebooted automatically when booting, after having installed the Virtual Machine Additions.

Hey there rdstar, its been a long time....

Sounds like the Virtual addition isn't compatible with the AMD server (CPU/motherboard) possibly.

Do you get any event ID's for those errors, if you do would you be able to post them up for us... just edit your previous post.

The first log was from the event-log of the virtual server console.
I traced the corresponding event in the event viewer.:

For the Error:
Event ID:1054
No extra information in the description & No information available on the MS website yet


For the warning:
EventID 1033
No extra information in the description & No information available on the MS website yet.

For the info's:
EventID: 1091, 1032, 1025
For these also no extra information available.

Have you checked those event id's on this site - http://www.eventid.net/ ?

I checked the event ID's on that site but nothing was rellevant.
Only links to DHCP and exchange server relates issues. Nothing about virtual server.

Unfortunately I haven't used the Virtual server 2005 or any of that software as of yet, I will continue trying to find some information for you but in the meantime can you try posting the error on the following site:

microsoft.public.virtualserver

There might be more information on there.
