Default [Answered] Very basic IIS question

Hi,

Our server has randomly been stopping serving web applications.

I need to know how to start IIS and stop IIS, where are the .exe files
for these actions and what are their names?

Also, does anyone know how this sort of thing happens, it's killing our business?!

thanks
andy

Hi

thanks for the reply.

I've looked at some of those topics and can't find what i'm looking for.

I have downloaded a program that monitors programs and when you
add one to monitor, you do so by navigating to it's .exe file. But IIS
is a little more complicated than that.

Does anyone know if it is a case of one .exe file to look for that is responsible
for keeping it live or loaded??

thanks

IIS is normally a service that is running in the background, you can check it status through Services in Administrator Tools.
You can manually start or stop the service from within there.

Alternatively you can uninstall it and then reinstall it through Add/Remove Programs
