Hi everyone, i hope i dont bore people with this quetion. I have a computer with XP SP3 currently installed. I am getting another hard drive , as i want to load some old games on the machine . I know about dos box and Virtual pc, so dont ask me to go down that track. What i want to know is, is it possible to unplug the current hard drive with XP on it , plug in the new hard drive, install Win 98se.Then use the Win 98 disk as a Master , plug in the XP disk and use it as a slave ?? Would this work or will it not ? Any suggestions on how to make this work ?
Thanks.

HI
to PCHF Yay! another Aussie!! It would work if you remove the XP hard drive and put in the new one and install 98 on it. But you would have to run the one at a time not as master / slave or it will always boot offf the master and what ever O/S is on it.What most do is set the drives as master and slave but you have to install Windows XP on the slave only after installing MS-DOS, Windows 98 on the master to prevent these operating systems from overwriting the Windows XP boot sector and the Windows XP startup files. This will give you a multi boot menu and when you boot you just select 98 or XP from the menu |

Maybe this may be a better way is your current XP drive in FAT32 format or NTFS
