I installed a new 80gig hard drive with Win98SE. It installed ok but only shows 2.0gig on the drive. I checked and it sees the other 78 but says it is not allocated. How do I fix it so it sees the whole 80gig?

to the PCHelpForum.com.Max, for you information, you posted two threads on the same issue. I will be deleting the other one. Someone will along soon to help you with your Win98 question. Enjoy your stay at PCHF.

You may have formatted it as a FAT16 partition:
Your partition type may be FAT16. This is a very old partitioning scheme created for use with MS DOS. FAT16 partitions have a maximum size of only 2GB. You can find out your partition type by looking at the the Drive Properties. It should show a partition type of FAT16, FAT32. To fix this problem, you can convert your FAT16 partition to FAT32 using method three at the link...

It can be possible if you make proper partition in the same format.
That is showing only your windows installed drive and left 78GB space should be create in the specific format. |
