I have a compaq presario laptop running windows 98. I would like to use it, but not sure if anything is still supported. In your opinion, would it be worth saving this laptop and using it, or will I have trouble installing new programs or using the internet. It is a friend of mines and I want to buy it.
I do not need to run any really large applications, just want to use it for the internet and the microsoft office 2000 that is installed on it.

I am not sure exactly what specs you want. But it has win 98 second edition. AMD processor. Runs great, seems to have a lot of memory. Not too familiar with 98 though. Is there an application I can go to in order to get the specs?

Thanks for the info on the 98 service pack. You would recommend I install that? Would there be any conflicts that you are aware of with programs after the installation?

I am having a little trouble. I cannot get the Compaq presario 1200 notebook that we have been talking about to recognize my USB flash drive that I use. I want to load that techtool program from there. Then I tried to use my cable modem to connect to the internet but it says needs a driver. I went to the Compaq site and they do not have any software for this model. Presario 1200 XL 110 notebook. Any ideas?
