ok, when i turn it on, it shows the Compaq logo for about 15 seconds, and then it says:
"Non-System Disk or Disk error, Replace and Strike any key when ready" and then i strike a key, with no disk in of course, it repeats the same error

This could mean two things:
a.) You have a disk in your floppy drive. Remove it. b.) Your hard disk is dying/dead. If it is the former, problem solved. If it is the latter you could have a go with DBAN. Darik's Boot And Nuke | Hard Drive Disk Wipe |

Everything. But it's better than not having one going.
I mean, I'd certainly wait to hear what others think before doing it, but that's all I can think of. If a disk says that it's crying for attention.

Hey dude,how are you?
Are you able to check connections internaly? This is an older laptop is it still running win 95/98 or NT? This possibly a dead hard drive or even a full hard drive. If it has not been replaced in some time it is possible it has died. Have you tried booting from the OS disk or safe mode?
