can't boot up
error message

can anybody help please, my computer does not boot up even in safe mode, i get a error message coming up saying.
File Name VMM(12) +00001A77
Error OE : 0028 : C022CD5F,
press any key to continue, then another screen appears with another code quoting: C0280A77, i know its ancient but i'm running Me with 4.3Gb harddrive

Give this a try...

Click Start
Click Run
Type scanregw.exe
Hit Enter

If you are unable to boot into windows try this:

Restart the pc and boot into dos and type the following:

c: <enter>
CD\windows\command <enter>
scanreg.exe/fix <enter>

Try F8 on boot up and see if it brings up the choice menu?

You may need the ME boot disk:http://www.bootdisk.com/

Or do you already have the ME startup disk?

i made a boot disc earlier today, when it runs it asks whether to boot from hdd or cd rom, i say hdd, it starts ok, but when the desktop has finished loading within 5 seconds i get the same error message

If you are booting from a disk then you choose CD/DVD rom.
