Windows 95, 98 & ME - Windows 1998 on w95 computer posted in the Operating Systems forums; I have a Windows 1998 boot disk (Floppy Disk), but if I rrun it on the AST, it says I need Disk/CD Support, Why should i use a CD? ...

Default Windows 1998 on w95 computer

I have a Windows 1998 boot disk (Floppy Disk), but if I rrun it on the AST, it says I need Disk/CD Support, Why should i use a CD? its a floppy disk! Summary: How to Run Windows 1998 on a 1995?

The bootdisk doesn't install Windows 98, it's for systems that don't support booting from the CD drive, you put the bootdisk in and type the command to launch the CD installation. I don't know if Windows 98 was ever offered on floppy disks, so you'd need the CD to install it.

It's not that hard to find Windows 98 CDs on ebay. Not to many people use it anymore. And actually, Windows 98 might not be a better deal in your case because nobody makes software for 98 anymore.

Save up some cash and get a newer laptop!
