Windows 95, 98 & ME - [Resolved] NTLDR is missing posted in the Operating Systems forums; hi guyes i know this is very common problem for all PCs ,but i really need help i download the fixntldr ISO image .......and do as they describe but nothing ...

Thumbs up [Resolved] NTLDR is missing
hi guyes i know this is very common problem for all PCs ,but i really need help
i download the fixntldr ISO image .......and do as they describe but nothing happened

could any one please tell me step by step procedure ..........how do i fix this problem

actually it was win 98 .........
it says it failuer to read cd- rom

Ok boot disks are normaly used by downloading and save the file then put it to floppy disk not to CD rom.

Did this occure when you were trying to reinstall win 98?

Do you have the win 98 floppy boot disk?

It usaly comes supplied with PC/Laptop with a CD to.


Go into BIOS,reboot PC/Laptop,when it starts up you should see on screen press ? to enter setup.This is usaly F1/F2/ or Dell.

Go to boot tab and set first boot to floppy drive put in win 98 bootable floppy F10 to save and exit.

actually the other computer i'm using is win XP and it don't have floppy drive slot that's why i have to burn it in to CD
please let me know, is any thing else i can do

Did you go into BIOS set first boot device to CD rom,put in disk then save and exit?

How or why did you get this error?

Were you installing windows 98?

Did the PC just crash,stop working?

If you were trying to install win 98 or repair it?You need the floppy disk and CD that you use to install it.

With say XP you usaly only need a CD.

idon't it just says , boot form cd failuer

Were you installing windows 98?
NO

Or download the boot disk from here?Bootdisk.Com - Free Windows Bootdisks, Free DOS boot disk

i'm back, my computer is now working , i just download windows 2000 pro. cd and it was working.
thanks for all your help.
well i do have one more question, actully the CPU i have is very old i think it was 98 so i just want to know can i download windows Xp in that .............or it will cause any problem.

Welcome back,glad it is sorted.Thankyou for letting me know.



What is your compueter?A PIII?

If it is a PIII or higher it can handle XP Home/Pro.

A PII or lower then I myself would say no do not install XP.

But you will need to have at least 256 RAM/Memory installed this will speed it up.

I have a PIII with XP Pro installed with just over 300 mb RAM/Memory and it runs great.The CPU is a slower model than modern computers however it runs smooth with the extra RAM/Memory.

However you will not be able to run any high spec games but for general surfing and downloading it would be fine.
