Default Windows 98 System not found message
My kids have Windows 98 installed on their Compaq computer. They were trying to transfer music from their computer to a friends MP3 player. It was about 30% transferred when everything stopped and shut down. Computer restarted itself but then shut down again and only shows a black screen with the message Operating system not found press any key to try again. Pressing any key does nothing but show message again.
What can be done to get it back working?

Can you enter BIOS?reboot and eithe press DEL/F1/F2.To see if your hard drive is there?Sounds like your hard drive has failed.

Do you have the boot disks ie floppy win 98 cd?Try to reboot pc using floppy boot disk?
