Cool File missing check Registry or system.ini

Win98 Second edition ---I had Symantec installed when it was a netwook machine, now it is a standalone -- could not uninstall through add or remove programs or with uninstall so I just deleted the folder. now when I boot up I get message that it cannot find missing file check registry or system.ini file. c:\Progra~1\Symantec\Symevent.386 I have looked and cannot find where I can rem or delete this file. Help! I am a novice in DOS problems

Your info and my continued searches of Symantec site solved the problem. I will now run CCleaner
